Learn more about GLP‑1 treatments
What weight loss treatment options are available to me?
GLP-1 options through Oriah are compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide, prescribed only if your provider decides they are appropriate for you. Compounded medications are not reviewed or approved by the FDA for safety or effectiveness.
What is a compounded medication?
A compounded medication is prepared by a licensed pharmacy for an individual patient on a provider’s prescription. Compounded medications are not reviewed or approved by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality.
How do semaglutide and tirzepatide differ?
Semaglutide acts on the GLP-1 receptor. Tirzepatide acts on both the GLP-1 and GIP receptors. Both are weekly injections. Your provider recommends one based on your health history and goals.
Can my provider adjust my dose?
Yes. Doses usually start low and change gradually. Your provider reviews how you are doing at check-ins and adjusts your plan when appropriate.
Can I qualify if I have existing health conditions?
It depends on the condition. GLP-1s are not appropriate for everyone, including people with a personal or family history of certain thyroid cancers. Your provider reviews your full history before prescribing.
Are there side effects?
The most common are nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and reduced appetite, usually early on or after a dose change. Tell your provider about any side effects, and seek care right away for severe stomach pain.
What if I need to cancel?
You can cancel from your patient portal. Canceling does not stop an order already sent to the pharmacy; if your order is pending, contact support and we will help.
